Future Mobility Partnership

The Institute of High Frequency Technology (IHF) is mainly focusing on the field of antennas which are acting as a transducer between guided waves and free space propagation. Both antennas and wave propagation are essential for any wireless communication system.

The institute divisions allow to both design and construct antennas in-house. Therefore, theoretical and practical investigations of novel antenna concepts form one focus of research at IHF. Assessing the characteristics of antennas and antenna systems as well as radar cross sections of objects requires dedicated measurement techniques inside an electromagnetically anechoic chamber allowing high precision results. Consequently, measurement techniques as such are also of central interest to the researchers. Another research focus is put on assessment of limit compliance of electromagnetic exposure by measurements and appropriate simulations. Particularly through the exhaustive deployment of mobile radio networks an exposure monitoring is indispensable.
