Future Mobility Partnership

The Institute of Automatic Control at RWTH Aachen University is specializing in research on modeling and control of complex technical systems. Main focus areas include model predictive control, robust control and networked control systems.

Besides acknowledged methodical contributions the institute emphasizes application oriented research. The six divisions „Automotive“, „Industry“, „Combustion“, „Energy“, „Galileo“ and „Medical“ represent its major areas of application.

The division „Automotive“ is dedicated to the development of innovative control strategies for vehicles and vehicle components. Current applications include advanced driver assistance systems, functions for autonomous vehicles and vehicle dynamics control. By establishing two test areas for the Galileo global navigation satellite system, the IRT has gained extensive experience in the field of satellite positioning and navigation.
